Circleville Pumpkin Show
So, my first fall living in Columbus I was invited by my two friends (not the lovely ladies in this picture) to go to the festival! Located in Circleville, 45 minutes south of Columbus, we left with the intention of spending our day here.
All I can say is... wow. The idea of a pumpkin show seems so simple, yet this is anything but. First of all, the whole county shuts down school for the week during the festival. There are seven different parades, and being named Miss Pumpkin or Little Miss Pumpkin is far superior to winning prom queen.
Anything you could ever imagine pumpkin flavored, they have. Pumpkin slushes, pumpkin waffles, pumpkin chili, pumpkin burgers, pumpkin seeds, pumpkin pie, pumpkin soup, and *so* much more. It may seem dramatic, but for real there is so much more.
On top of this, the worlds largest pumpkin pie is baked here every single year and put on display. Which, may I add, there is a line out the door just to see and get a picture with. The locally bakery sells 75 percent of their donuts just in this week alone with their famous pumpkin donuts.
Add all of this together with the typical carnival rides and usual fair food, and it's quite the experience. Definitely not what I was expecting when I agreed to the idea of going. I am so glad I went though and got to experience this festival!
This last year I took the two lovely ladies in the picture with me and we experienced it all over again.
If you are ever passing through in October, I highly suggest you stop on in and get a glimpse of this mania!
